A portion of the proceeds from the 2011 Cleveland Wine Festival presented by Giant Eagle will be donated to the Bright Side of the Road Foundation.
Bright Side of the Road Foundation was founded in 2006 to help find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Barry Winovich, his family and his friends founded the Bright Side of the Road Foundation very soon after Barry’s diagnosis. The Winovich family and the other members of this foundation wanted to bring together their energy and resources to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
Driven by Barry’s love of music and life, the Foundation aims to raise funds through entertaining events that will be remembered and enjoyed.
Bright Side of the Road is made up of many concerned members of the community, who together have, and are, organizing exciting events to further our cause. The foundation is incorporated in the State of Ohio and is organized exclusively for charitable and, more importantly, scientific purposes as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Our Mission is to:
Make grants to support activities and projects relating to the causes, prevention, treatment and cure for ALS such as specific research, drug trials and other medical and/or scientific programs identified as relevant.
Also, we want to support other organizations whose purpose is to raise awareness, educate patients, families, caregivers and the general public about ALS.
